PUBLIC NOTICE/INFORMATION SHEET

This is a notice to establish a pool of eligibles. NOT to fulfill immediate job openings.

Applications will be accepted for the following trade:
SHEET METAL WORKER

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age or older (provide nonreturnable proof).
  2. EDUCATION: Must document proof of high school graduation or GED® Certificate completion (must provide nonreturnable proof of high school diploma/transcript or GED® Certificate).
  3. MATH: Must have completed one year of high school algebra or equivalent post high school algebra course(s) with a grade of "C" or better or have community college placement test results or WorkKeys Assessments in
    1. applied mathematics
    2. reading for information, and
    3. locating information
    With a score of 4 or higher on each assessment as evidenced by an Oregon Career Readiness Certificate (Silver level or higher). (Must provide proof, transcript, placement test, etc.)

NOTE: Applicants must submit nonreturnable high school diploma and transcripts, college placement test results or GED information and high school transcripts as noted above. Documentation proving education must be submitted no later than July 1, 2025.

This is a random selection method. The drawing for the list will be held by July 7, 2025 by the end of the day. No later than July 11, 2025, applicants will be notified of their ranking in the pool of eligibles by mail. Those qualifying for the pool of eligibles will be given additional information regarding the apprenticeship program (related training information, selection and formal indenturing into the apprenticeship program).

Geographical Area: The standards apply to the geographic area of Jackson, Josephine, Klamath and Lake Counties, in the state of Oregon.

Selection Method: The selection of each apprentice is based on a lottery system. All applicants must meet the minimum qualifications and provide documentation. Apprentices are selected by a random drawing. Individuals selected by this method will be notified by mail of their ranking. Individuals who are selected for apprenticeship will be referred to employers requesting apprentices. These individuals will be sent out in descending order from the ranked pool of eligibles. If an applicant fails to respond within 48 hours (two working days) for employment, the opportunity will go to the next person on the list. Applicants in the ranked pool of eligibles will maintain their rankings for a period of two years. Applicants may be removed from the list at an earlier date by their own request or by a registered return receipt mail notice for failure to respond or accept employment a total of three times. Applicants may submit only one application during each enrollment period. The committee must exhaust their existing list of applicants prior to establishing any subsequent lists.
