MO150 Part I, II, & III

This three-part series of classes is excellent training if you are interested in beginning careers in the Medical Transcription field or improving current transcription skills. The course includes three levels of training: beginning (part I), intermediate (part II), and advanced (part III) and is ideal for people who are detail-oriented, have above-average spelling and grammatical skills, and enjoy very precise work. It takes 3 terms to complete all levels.

Class Information
Credits: 3 Length: 66 hours
Dates: Every Quarter  Days: Monday & Wednesday 
Time: 5:30 pm – 9:30 pm (Last day of class is 2 hours shorter.) All levels of the class meet at the same time and in the same room each term.
Location: Riverside Campus, Medford, Building B, Room 18 (on the corner of S. Bartlett and 9th Street in Medford) Tuition: $575 (a $30 registration fee is required for students taking 3-5 credits)

Note: Very difficult to pass this to course without a computer at home for word processing. Class uses MS Word.

Prerequisites
  • You must have a minimum typing speed of 30 words per minute*
  • You must be familiar with computer word processing using Word *
  • You must have completed Writing 115 or Business Technology 113 (a writing class) or tested out of them on the RCC writing placement test. Phone 541-245-7552 to schedule a test.

*You self-identify that you have these skills.  No Extra classes or verification needed.  At the instructor’s discretion, you may be tested to verify typing and word processing skills.

Co-requisite
  • Medical Terminology (MO100) May be taken as as Web and Telecourse.

This class provides a basic understanding of medical terminology using a word-building approach based on the body’s systems.  Emphasis is placed on spelling, definitions, usage and pronunciation.  You must have completed Writing 30 and Reading 30 or passed out of them on the RCC placement test. This class may be taken online or in a classroom format.  Classroom format will be Mondays and Wednesdays, 3:00-5:00 pm, April 2 – May 21 at the Riverside Campus; at the Redwood Campus, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6pm-8pm April 3 – May 29*

Scheduling a placement test

If you are a new student to RCC you will need to schedule a placement test.  Placement tests are given at six convenient locations in Jackson and Josephine Counties.
