RCC Community & Workforce Training is proud to be part of the American Heart Association Training Center Network serving Southern Oregon. As an AHA Training Center, we ensure that CPR classes are taught to American Heart Association standards and that each CPR class we offer meets or exceed the quality demanded by the nation’s leading CPR training agency. Our Training Center promotes the mission of the AHA by offering quality training courses in basic life support to the community.

Courses Offered
Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Instructor Training (9.438I): 5-hour training for students who already have current BLS Provider status and proficient skills to become an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS CPR Instructor. Course provides information on AHA and Emergency Cardiac Care mission, overview of instructor competencies, AHA Manual and instructor network, and AHA Training Center specific policies. Class reviews hands-on skills demonstrations. Students must successfully be monitored teaching a first course within six months to receive their instructor card.
Proveedor de RCP de soporte vital básico (BLS) (en español) (9.438I): Para profesionales de la salud que buscan una tarjeta de proveedor de atención médica BLS. Certificación de finalización de la American Heart Association a nivel de proveedor de atención médica y la emisión de la tarjeta AHA BLS HCP que es válida por dos años.
Basic Life Support (BLS CPR Instructor Recertification (9.439PR): 5-hour class for current BLS Instructors in good standing with the AHA Training Center who want to renew their card. Successful completion leads to recertification from the American Heart Association at the CPR Instructor -level and the issue of the AHA BLS Instructor card that is good for two years.
Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Provider (9.438P): The course covers critical concepts of CPR and is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals and community members the ability to recognize sudden cardiac arrest, respiratory emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED and relieve choking in both children and adults. Successful completion of this course provides certification and an AHA BLS Provider Card. Card is included in course fee.
Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED (9.437): 5-hour class for members of the community seeking training in critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency for the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives. Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive an AHA Emergency First Aid Heartsaver® card.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Provider(9.435B): 16-hour class for those working in medical professions. Addresses the core knowledge necessary to evaluate and manage an adult victim of a cardiovascular emergency or cardiac arrest. This advanced, instructor-led classroom course highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care. Skills are taught in large, group sessions and small, group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented. Participants must have current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Provider Card, as well as an understanding of ECG interpretation and emergency cardiac pharmacology. Upon completion of course, students earn AHA ACLS Provider certification card. AHA ACLS manual is required for this course.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Recertification(9.435A): Advanced level recertification course for medical and emergency personnel with a valid American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Provider certification, a good understanding of ECG interpretation, and emergency cardiac pharmacology. Upon completion of course, students earn AHA ACLS Provider certification card (included in tuition). AHA ACLS manual is required for this course.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) for Experienced Providers (EP) designed for those who are proficient in performing BLS and ACLS skills, reading and interpreting ECGs, understanding ACLS pharmacology; and who regularly lead or participate in emergency assessment and treatment of prearrest, arrest, or postarrest patients. ACLS for Experienced Providers goes beyond the core ACLS training by offering critical thinking opportunities for those advanced, experienced, healthcare professionals who use ACLS on a regular basis. The goal of ACLS EP is to improve outcomes in complex cardiovascular, respiratory and other (e.g., metabolic, toxicologic) emergencies by expanding on core ACLS guidelines and encouraging critical thinking and decision-making strategies. Through cooperative learning and active participation in case-based scenarios, learners enhance their skills in the differential diagnosis and treatment of prearrest, arrest and postarrest patients.
