Mathematics

Mathematics

Math is required to complete every degree and certificate program at RCC. Whether your goal is to reinforce your number sense, learn basic skills, earn required math credits for certificates and degree programs, or prepare for transfer to a four-year school, we can help build your math concepts and skills to get you on the right track.

Math is not a spectator sport. -- Jerry Mortensen
Neither is life. Don't stand on the sidelines, get out there and play!

Where should I start?

The tests below will give you some idea of the types of math questions you should know from each course.

STAT243Z Strong Start

This course is designed for non-STEM students who have already taken MTH20 (basic arithmetic); but would like to bypass the next 3 prerequisites for STAT243Z: (MTH60, 65 & 95).

This course is not appropriate for STEM students who will need college algebra and/or calculus.

The basic idea is to provide a path for non-STEM focused students (i.e. humanities, social science, education, economics, nursing) to pass STAT243Z without the usual time (and money) consuming prerequisites … with the added assistance of a 2-hour/week mandatory 1-credit corequisite course (STAT243Q).

STAT243Q is a required 1-credit corequisite course designed to teach key algebra concepts, reinforce STAT243Z skills, & provide guidance in test-taking and study skills.
