RCC Dental Programs

Applications for 2026/27 Entry will be available January 5, 2026.

Dental Assistant Applications are available through May 17, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. PST.
Dental Hygiene Applications are available through March 31, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. PST.

Before you start the application process, please refer to the RCC Dental Program Pre-Application Procedures.

All applications will be ranked via a 3-Phase Point System

The RCC (Rogue Community College) Dental Program application process will utilize the following selection criteria and point system for all RCC Dental Programs unless otherwise noted.

Note: The college reserves the rights to update point values for future academic years.

Completion of Science Series for the DH program

Science Grades: Up to 15 points. Each of the following courses will receive points based on the grade earned: A = 3 points, B = 2 points, C = 1 point.

  • BI 231 Anatomy & Physiology I
  • BI 232 Anatomy & Physiology II
  • BI 233 Anatomy & Physiology III
  • BI 234 Microbiology
  • CHEM 104 Introductory Chemistry

NEW! Completion of DH 100 course: Up to 5 points based on the grade earned: A = 5, B = 3, C = 1.
This new elective course introduces the basic knowledge and skills needed to provide basic dental hygiene services.

Completion of all Prerequisites:
  • For Dental Hygiene, you must complete at least 28 of the required 44 prerequisite courses.
    Please see the DH Prerequisite Verification Form for a detailed prerequisite list.
    2 points - Completion of ALL prerequisite credits (44+) before the application deadline.
  • For Dental Assistant, you must complete at least 9 of the required 15-17 prerequisite courses.
    Please see the DA Prerequisite Verification Form for a detailed prerequisite list.
    2 points - Completion of ALL prerequisite credits (15+) before the application deadline.
Prerequisite GPA (Grade Point Average):

Prerequisite courses completed before the program application deadline will be utilized to calculate the GPA and assignment of points in the selection/admission process. GPA points will be rounded to hundredths and assigned using the following range table:

  • DA & DH Programs (minimum prerequisite GPA of 2.5):
    3.67-4.00 = 25 points
    3.33-3.66 = 23 points
    3.20-3.32 = 20 points
    3.15-3.19 = 17 points
    3.07-3.14 = 15 points
    2.90-3.06 = 12 points
    2.50-2.89 = 9 points
Prior Degree:
  • 2 points – official transcript providing proof of an associate or higher degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
In-district Residency (Requires proof of residency):
  • 4 points - Josephine or Jackson County residents.
Veteran or Active Military Status:
  • 4 points - Military veteran (with proof of honorable discharge) or active service (e.g., National Guard).  
    • Requires DD214, NGB 22 or proof of current military service, such as an LES.
Work Experience in the Healthcare Field:
  • Up to 15 points - may be awarded for paid, hands-on patient care experience within the past five years, supported by a current, unencumbered state license or national certification.
  • Points will be awarded based on verified dental experience. Points for work experience meeting requirements above will be awarded as follows:
    • 300-399 hours = 6 points
    • 400-599 hours = 8 points
    • 600-799 hours = 10 points
    • over 800 hours = 15 points

    Applicants with other Oregon or national healthcare certifications may request a Healthcare Work Experience Form be filled out by their current/previous employer(s), with proof of licensure/certification, required work hours and an explanation of how their role involves hands-on patient care and relates to dental practice. Experience will be evaluated for relevance, with 0–15 points awarded (roles include OSBN Registered CNA or CMA, LPN, Respiratory Therapist, EMT, Paramedic, Nationally Certified Medical Assistant, Armed Services Medic/Corpsman).

    No points will be awarded for work experience without proof of state licensure or national certification with their application, or if the applicant submits licensure/certification and no Work Experience Form (or incomplete form).

    Access to the Healthcare Work Experience Form will be given during the application process. Please submit your application with ample time for your previous employer to fill it out before the application deadline.
Alternate Status
  • 5-Points - Prior-year alternates who were accepted and remained on the alternate list until the first day of orientation.
  • Application fees are non-refundable and must be paid to Marketplace (AFTER Jan. 5, 2026 but BEFORE YOU SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION). Fees are as follows:
    • Dental Assistant Fall 2026 Application Fee – $25
    • Dental Hygiene Fall 2026 Application Fee – $100
  • Payments can be made starting January 5, 2026.
    Once payment is received, a confirmation email will be sent to both the applicant (via your RCC Student Email) and the Dental department.
  • Please save the Marketplace confirmation email for proof of payment during the application process If you don't see the email, please check your junk mail. If no confirmation is received, the payment is incomplete.

Please gather and perform all RCC Dental Program Pre-Application Procedures before advancing to the application.

  • Submit Official Transcripts if you are transferring to RCC or have previous college credits.
  • A copy of your Marketplace receipt verifying proof of Application Fee Payment
  • Additional supporting documents
    • Military Documents (if applicable)
    • Current healthcare workforce license/certification or report from licensing body showing active status

  • The top ranked applicants for the DA and DH programs will be invited to sit for one of the offered essay sessions.
  • The essay portion of the application will consist of multiple scenario-based questions for response. The essay is worth a maximum of 30 points to be added to your Phase I score. You will not receive a copy of your essay score. The essay portion of the application is scheduled for April 20 or 21, 2026, on the Table Rock Campus in White City, Oregon.

    *All applicants will receive notice of their status by May 1, 2026. If you do not receive an email, please contact the Dental office AFTER THAT DATE by emailing [email protected].

While applicants should continue working to complete their prerequisite coursework, you should NOT pursue meeting the clinical requirements before being offered a seat in the dental program. Applicants with an admissions offer will receive specific directions from the Dental Department on how to fulfill these requirements. This information will come to your RCC Student Email.

If you are selected for a 2026/27 Dental Program(s), Congratulations!

Applicants offered a seat in the Dental Hygiene program must complete all outstanding prerequisite courses (28+ credits) by the end of term prior to starting the DH program. Dental Assistant applicants must have the 11 required prerequisite course done before starting in the DA program. Students must maintain their 2.5 GPA for the remainder of the prerequisite coursework. In addition, prior to beginning dental courses, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Pass a criminal background check from an agency designated by RCC.
  • Pass a 10-panel drug screen from a lab designated by RCC.
  • Submit proof of current immunizations and current American Heart Association BLS certification for health care providers.

Applicants should NOT pursue meeting the Phase III requirements before being offered a seat in the dental program. Applicants with an admissions offer will receive specific directions from the Dental Department on how to fulfill these requirements. This information will come to your RCC Student Email.
