Hola, soy Norma su RCC Latino Outreach & Recruitment Coach. I support Latinx students getting started at Rogue Community College.
As your Latino Coach I will help you with the admission application, scholarships, registration and RCC resources. We host programs and events to help Latinx students transition into Rogue Community College, and for la familia to help bridge the understanding of the American College educational system.
Norma was born in California but at the age of six, she moved to Mexico due to her father's illness. When she returned to California in 2001, she discovered that language and lack of skills with electronics were major barriers for her. Years later, her husband enrolled her in ESL classes at RCC, and she eventually began taking basic computer classes. In 2020, she completed her associate degree in Early Childhood Education, and in 2021, she obtained a certificate in Family Support. Currently, she is working towards her BA degree. Norma feels incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to work for RCC since it was where she obtained the tools that have helped her grow both personally and professionally. She believes that working at RCC is a way to give back a little bit of what she has received.
