Computer Labs
Question: How do I log on to a lab computer?
Answer: You will log in using your student email account and password (Username: You can use the whole email address or just the first part before the @ symbol, up to 20 characters). Every student who has applied and been admitted for credit classes has a student email account. Please see the Student Email section below for more information.
Student Email
Question: How do I get a student email address?
Answer: When you apply to RCC and get admitted, you are assigned an RCC student email address. For email, the college uses Microsoft Office365. Your RCC email and password will be used to sign in to multiple RCC services. At this time, your email credentials are used to log in to your RCC student email/Office365 cloud apps, the myRogue Student Portal, Blackboard (RogueOnline) for online classes, the RCC Bookstore, the RCC Foundation Scholarship Universe, RCC Access and Disability Resources (AIM), RCC's New Student Online Orientation, and the lab computers. Please see the next section for information on determining your RCC student email address.
Question: What is my student email address?
Answer: You should have received a "Welcome to RCC" email at your personal email account containing valuable new student information including your new RCC student email details and password.
In general
If you were ever a student prior to June 19, 2020 or after Dec. 11th, 2020, your student email address is:
firstname.lastname.last4ofStudentID @student.roguecc.edu
For example: ossie.osprey.4567 @student.roguecc.edu
On your first logon, you will be prompted to change your password. In addition, on your first log in you will be prompted to setup a Microsoft Authenticator or you may choose to use an alternate method such as your phone number and an alternate email address (example below). This is to secure your account and provide a method for future password self-reset (see: Question: What if my log in is asking me to verify my account?).
If you enrolled between June 19, 2020 and December 11, 2020, your student email address is:
firstname.lastname @student.roguecc.edu
or firstname.lastnameunique# @student.roguecc.edu
For example: ossie.osprey@ student.roguecc.edu or (if there was already a student named Ossie Osprey in the system) ossie.osprey1@ student.roguecc.edu.
- If you do not remember your password, or the default password does not work, follow the prompt on the login screen that says "Forgot my password." If you receive a message that you are unable to reset your own password, click the link to "contact your administrator." (See "What if I forgot my email password?")
- If you do not know your student email address, or cannot locate your welcome email with these details, computer lab staff can assist you in determining your email. See CONTACTS (COMPUTER LABS).
Question: How do I access my email?
Answer: You can access your email at https://outlook.office365.com. The website link will open a new window where you will log in with your student email address. Computers in labs have a shortcut to student email on the desktop. If it is your first time logging on, you will use the default password. You will be prompted on your first login to change this default password to something new and more secure. In addition, on your first login you will be prompted to set up an authenticator or for your phone number and an alternate email address, see: Question: What if my login is asking me to verify my account?
Question: What if my login is asking me to verify my account?
Answer: When you first logged into your RCC student email account (managed by RCC, hosted by Microsoft) you were prompted to set up a Microsoft Authenticator or you may have chosen to use an alternate method such as your phone number and an alternate email address to secure your account and to provide a method for future password self-reset. This info is stored in your Microsoft RCC student email account for future random security verifications, password self reset, and/or multifactor authentication. If at some point in the future, you get a new phone number or alternate email address, you will want to change this info, you can do so by going to https://myaccount.microsoft.com/ (only while already logged into your email account) and selecting Security info from the left-hand menu. Please note, if you update or change your phone number and alternate email in your student record (myRogue), that change will not update in your RCC student email account. You can only change/update your phone number and alternative email in your Microsoft365 account when logged in, so be sure to do it before a time that you are prompted to verify your account.
Question: What if my account is locked?
Answer: Your account may be locked for two reasons.
- If you have entered an incorrect password too many times your account will auto lock for a set amount of time, and then auto unlock after that set time has passed. If you get locked out for too many bad password attempts, please wait at least one hour before trying again.
- RCC recently moved to disabling accounts of students who have not been enrolled in 3 or more years or who have applied but not yet signed up for a course in 1 or more years. In order to re-activate your account, you will need to complete the RCC Student Email Re-Activation Request Form.
Question: What if I forgot my email password?
Answer: Remember, your email password is the same for your Blackboard, RCC Bookstore, and computer lab log in. If you still can’t remember and need to reset:
Please visit: https://outlook.office365.com (Clicking the link will open the website in a new window). Click the "Can't access your account?" link. (Links are blue text. Link may also say "forgot password")
In most cases, if you are a current student, you should be able to simply follow the instructions to reset your password yourself (you must have first logged in and provided more information to Microsoft for password self-reset to be enabled, as well as be a currently enrolled student).
Occasionally, if you have not first logged in and setup password self-reset information or you are an alumni student, you will get a message that says, "We're sorry...You can't reset your own password because password reset isn’t turned on for your account. You must contact your administrator to turn on password reset for your account." Please click the blue text in the message sentence, contact your administrator, this is a link that will send a password reset request from the system to us on your behalf. When we receive this request, we will manually reset your password and send a new, temporary password to the alternate/personal email address you have on file with RCC/Student Registration..
Please check your alternate/personal email for password reset instructions. Reply emails will contain the subject "RE: Request to Reset Microsoft Online Services Password for…" or "RE: Request to Reset RCC Online Services Password for…" and will be sent from a roguecc.edu email account, if you do not see our email in your inbox, please check your junk mail before contacting us for further help.
Manual password resets are processed in the order received by admins, Mon-Fri (8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.), excluding holidays and college closure days and Fridays during summer term.
Question: How do I forward my RCC email to my personal email?
Answer: Follow the instructions in this video below.
BlackBoard (Rogue Online)
Question: How do I log into Blackboard?
Answer: Go to roguecc.blackboard.com. Your Blackboard log in is your student email address and password (see Student Email section above). Your password is the same for your student email account, Blackboard, RCC Bookstore, and the lab computers.
