RCC Commencement

Commencement FAQs

When and where is the commencement ceremony going to be held?
A drive-thru processional called Carmencement will happen at the Redwood (Grants Pass) campus on June 18, 2022, with an opportunity for students to stop and walk across the commencement stage.

How will I know when to arrive?
You will RSVP online via MyRogue for an arrival time. There are 10 arrival times, starting at 9 a.m. Each graduate who plans on attending will need to sign up for an arrival time, even if they plan to carpool with a fellow graduate. The Carmencement will be limited to one vehicle per graduate. Friends and family who fit safely in the graduate’s vehicle will be able to attend.

Can I carpool with another graduate?
Yes – absolutely! Both graduates still need to sign up for an arrival time so we know when to expect you!

Can I decorate my vehicle?
We encourage you to decorate your vehicle, as long as it’s safe to drive! There will be a location available on campus if you’d like to decorate your car when you arrive.

What does the parade route look like?
Students who register for Carmencement by June 10th will be mailed a paper copy of the parade route (click the link for a PDF version).

What should I do if I don’t have transportation to campus?
If you are in need of transportation to campus for the event, please contact Sally Snyder at [email protected] or call 541-956-7187.

As a graduate, do I have to wear a cap and gown to participate in the ceremony?
Caps and tassels are required, but gowns are not for the 2022 event. You may order your regalia through the RCC Marketplace. There is a limited supply available, and the deadline to order is June 9th at 4 p.m.

Can my friends or family member come with me and watch?
Anyone who safely fits in your vehicle with you is welcome to drive with you in the parade. RCC will be posting a video of the stage after the event is over.

How do I know if I am eligible?
Students who have applied for graduation and received a message in their Communicator tab of Degree Audit which states they are eligible for the 2022 ceremony may participate.

Will my name be listed in the program if I don’t participate in commencement?
Yes, if you complete the Graduation Application by May 6th, 2022 and are approved your name will appear in all Commencement publications. Commencement programs will be provided to Carmencement attendees at the event.

Will my name be read during the Ceremony?
Names of graduates participating during Carmencement will be read aloud as they cross the commencement stage.

Will I have an opportunity to walk in a ceremony?
2022 graduates are invited to participate in Carmencement, which includes an opportunity to walk across the commencement stage.

Will there be a photographer at the ceremony?
There will be two designated locations for students to stop and take photographs along the parade route. Please do not exit your car to take photographs of your graduate at the stage.

When will I get my degree/certificate?
Degree/Certificates will be processed once all grades are confirmed and accounts are paid in full. You will receive your degree and /or certificate in the mail 8-10 weeks after all grades are submitted.

Make sure that you keep your mailing address in myRogue up to date at all times to ensure your degree or certificate is mailed to the correct address. In the event you did not complete your degree, you will receive an email stating the courses you are deficient.

When will my degree and/or certificate be notated on my transcript?
Degrees/Certificates will be notated on RCC transcripts approximately 4 weeks after grades are posted and program completion is confirmed.
