Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act
NWCCU 2020 Standard 2.I.1
Rogue Community College (RCC) is committed to the safety and security of all members of the College community. As part of that commitment, the RCC Risk Management Department publishes the Annual Security Report (ASR) by October 1st of each year. The ASR includes crime statistics that must be reported under the Clery Act. The crime statistics are broken down into specific geographical areas outlined in the Clery Act.
This procedure applies to all the RCC District locations.
The Risk Management Department collects and maintains all crime data and statistics, including those required for the ASR and the annual submission to the US Department of Education. All reports of criminal activity received by Risk Management are recorded in the college’s incident reporting system and review annually during the preparation of the ASR. Any incidents that meet the Clery Act for crime definitions and geographic requirements are included in the report.
Risk Management maintains ongoing collaboration with key campus partners to ensure accurate and timely information sharing.
- Dean of Student Success - to exchange information regarding student conduct violations or criminal activity.
- Title IX Coordinator - to share information related to Title IX and criminal activity.
- Campus Security Authorities (CSAs) - to collect and review incident reports from all designated CSA’s.
Risk Management also tracks all student travel through a master-tracking log. Each location from the previous year is reviewed to determine if it meets the Clery Act’s repeated or frequent use criteria. For qualifying locations, a formal request is sent to the law enforcement agency with jurisdiction over that address to obtain relevant crime statistics.
In coordination with other departments, Risk Management maintains a current list of non-campus locations that meet Clery Act definitions. Annual requests for crime data are sent to the appropriate law enforcement agencies for each of those locations.
Risk Management maintains strong working relationship with the following agencies, which have primary law enforcement jurisdiction for RCC campuses:
- Medford Police Department,
- Grants Pass Police Department,
- Jackson County Sheriff’s Office,
- Josephine County Sheriff’s Office
Risk Management formally requests crime data for all on campus, non-campus, and public property crimes within the colleges Clery Geography reported during the previous calendar year.
Finally, Risk Management compiles and analyzes crime data from the sources listed above to prepare and complete the required submission to the US Department of Education. The ASR is published no later than October 1st of each year.
