SNAP Eligibility for Students
The Oregon Department of Human Services has expanded the ability to offer benefits through its Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) - formerly known as Food Stamps. The SNAP program can assist students by providing funding to allow them to purchase food.
Students who can demonstrate to the Department of Human Services that they have a specific job as goal and can demonstrate their education is linked to their future employment may qualify for SNAP benefits. There are other eligibility requirements and students can learn more about eligibility criteria by visiting Partners for a Hunger Free Oregon’s SNAP for Students webpage.
Students can apply online and learn about other application options by visiting Partners for a Hunger Free Oregon’s Apply for SNAP webpage.
Rogue Community College’s STEP program can assist students in documenting educational enrollment if that is necessary to receive SNAP benefits.
If you are receiving SNAP benefits you may also qualify for additional supportive services through RCC’s STEP program. Please contact RCC’s STEP Coordinator – Donna Plummer – at [email protected] or 541-956-7263.
