The college follows a standard academic calendar comprised of 11-week fall, winter, and spring terms equivalent to 165 days of instruction. Also accounted or on the academic calendar are national holidays.
The Academic Calendar Committee meets yearly to consult with appropriate departments regarding holiday closure planning and to incorporate Collective Bargaining Agreement components, including but not limited to college closure days, in-service and preparation days, finals schedules. The final Academic Calendar draft is submitted to Executive Team for final approval
Holidays are observed on the dates noted or on alternate dates and include:
- New Year’s Day (January 1)
- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (Third Monday in January)
- Presidents’ Day (Third Monday in February)
- Memorial Day ( Last Monday in May)
- Independence Day (July 4)
- Labor Day ( First Monday in September)
- Veterans Day (November 11)
- Thanksgiving Day (Fourth Thursday in November)
- The Day after Thanksgiving (Fourth Friday in November)
- The Day before Christmas (December 24)
- Christmas Day (December 25)
- Other Closures – fifteen days scheduled no later than June 1 of the prior fiscal year for which the closures occur as defined in the collective bargaining agreements.
