What is a Learning Center?

A learning center is a place where adults sixteen years of age and older may learn basic skills in reading, writing, mathematics, computers, speaking and understanding English. They may participate in classroom and/or individual activities. Computer-assisted instruction, video tape instruction, and individual tutoring are available. Individuals 16 or 17 years old need to contact the learning center nearest them to get information on how to sign up.

  • To improve their reading, writing, and math skills prior to college placement testing or re-testing.
  • To learn to speak, read, write and listen in English.
