About Student Employment

Student Employees at RCC may work a maximum of 20 hours per week during the term. However, depending on their department, they may work more than 20 hours per week during the breaks between terms.
Based on the skill level required, each Student Employee position is classified as Level 1 or Level 2 and paid the following hourly wage:
- Level 1: $15.55
- Level 2: $16.05

To be eligible for student employment at RCC you must:
- Be enrolled in at least 6 credits
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of:
- 2.0 for Level 1 Positions
- 3.0 for Level 2 Positions
To be eligible for Student Employment during the summer term, you must:
- Be enrolled in at least 6 credits for the summer term, or be enrolled in at least 6 credits for the upcoming fall term (i.e., if enrolled in 0-5 credits in the summer term).

Preparing Your Application
Once you’ve identified any position(s) to pursue, you must complete an online application. Once the application is completed, you can use the same information to apply for a variety of Student Employee positions. Prepare for the application process by having:
- Names of previous employers and supervisors and dates of employment
- A list of professional references
- Your polished resume and a cover letter for the specific position

Interviewing
To maximize your preparation, Student Employment Services also recommends practicing your interview skills. An excellent resource that we use is Big Interview, which works best if you have an updated version of either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox as your browser (i.e., not Internet Explorer) and a functioning microphone and webcam.
As an RCC student, you can use this resource for free! Register in three easy steps by:

- Completing the registration process with your RCC student email account
- Logging back in with your email and updated password
