The Family Support Services Associate of Applied Science at Rogue Community College prepares you for a meaningful career supporting children and families. This two-year degree combines human services and early childhood development to give you the knowledge and hands-on skills employers value. You graduate ready to enter the workforce with confidence and make a difference in your community.
This program builds on the Career Pathway Certificate and the Certificate of Completion, creating a clear, stackable path toward an associate degree. If you attend full time, you can complete the degree in about six to seven terms.
Classes are offered online, hybrid and in-person to fit your schedule, whether you take one or two classes at a time or attend full time. Embedded training meets Community Health Worker certification requirements through the Oregon Health Authority, expanding your career opportunities.
Program Highlights
This two-year degree prepares you for family support roles such as family advocate, home visitor, parent educator or family outreach worker. Some courses in this program may not transfer to other institutions.
- Classes are available online or in-person at the Riverside Campus in Medford, including some evening options to fit your schedule.
- Align your coursework with the Oregon Registry: Pathways to Professional Recognition in Childhood Care and Education (ORO) Step 9.
- Meet Community Health Worker certification requirements.
- Practice trauma-informed care, ethical decision-making and strategies that strengthen family and community partnerships.
