At Rogue Community College, the Medical Assistant Certificate program prepares you to support both patients and health care providers in busy clinical settings. You will learn to perform common clinical procedures, assist with exams, manage medical records and communicate with patients — building practical skills you can use right away in the health care field. This three-term certificate program helps you enter the workforce quickly while making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
Your training combines online coursework with hands-on learning in a medical assistant lab and phlebotomy lab, along with a supervised practicum in a local clinic. The program prepares you to test for nationally recognized certifications in clinical medical assisting, phlebotomy and electrocardiography, helping you stand out to employers and expand your career opportunities in clinics, specialty practices and hospital-based settings.
If you already work in a medical office, RCC also offers a Medical Assistant Bridge Certificate program designed for medical receptionists, medical administrative assistants, patient service specialists and administrative assistants who want to build clinical skills and advance in their workplace. Students interested in leadership opportunities in a medical office may also consider the Medical Assisting Administrator Associate of Applied Science degree or the Health Care Administration Transfer to SOU Associate of Science degree.

With a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) credential, you can work in primary
care clinics, specialty practices, hospital-based clinics and government health agencies.
Medical Assisting can also be a starting point for advancement into roles such as
clinic supervisor, radiology technician, surgical technician or nurse through additional
education or workplace training.
