Nursing Assistants are essential members of the health care team, providing hands-on care and emotional support to patients in hospitals, long-term care facilities, clinics and home health settings.
Programs Highlights
With RCC’s Nursing Assistant training, you’ll gain career-boosting skills and be ready to enter the workforce in just 4–5 weeks. Our helpful faculty and staff guide you through a hybrid model of online and in-person learning.
Students are placed in longterm care clinical sites in Josephine or Jackson counties. Training includes:
- 37 hours of online coursework.
- 28 hours of in-person lab training at our state-of-the-art Health Professions Centers in White City or Grants Pass.
- 40 hours of hands-on, supervised clinical training at a local health care facility.
Upon completion of the program, students will achieve NA (Nursing Assistant) status and will be eligible to apply for CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) certification through the Oregon State Board of Nursing.

Required Vaccines
(or Titer Test Proof of Immunity)
- Hepatitis B (2 doses)
- Measles, mumps and rubella (MMR)
- Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap or Td)
- Varicella (2 doses)
Other Requirements
- Complete an American Heart Association - Basic Life Support certification class or provide proof of a valid card.
- Complete a drug screen.
- Complete a background check.
- Obtain a tuberculosis (TB) skin test.
You will be eligible to take the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) certification
examination upon successful completion of the Nursing Assistant course.
Applicants may apply for the certification exam within one year of completing the
program. There is no limit to the number of attempts allowed during that one-year
testing period.
