Associate Degree

Table Rock Campus

The Manufacturing Technology Associate of Applied Science degree at Rogue Community College is a comprehensive two-year program. You will learn traditional manufacturing skills and modern computer-based methods. You’ll use computer-aided drafting (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) as your main tools to help design and create parts. Along the way, you’ll also build your math, science, computer and people skills, so you’re ready for real workplace challenges.

When you finish the program, you can start working as a CAD drafter, an entry-level machinist, a CNC machine operator or even an engineering assistant. With more experience on the job, you can move into careers like tool-and-die maker, quality control inspectors, computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) programmer or a first-level supervisor.

Did you know?

  • CAD is used everywhere — from designing video game characters to planning roller coasters and even building sneakers.
  • CAM helps machines make parts with amazing accuracy — some CNC machines can work within the width of a human hair!
  • Engineers sometimes call CAD/CAM the “magic combo” because it helps them design and build faster and with fewer mistakes.

Program Highlights

When you join the Manufacturing Technology AAS program, you’ll work toward these outcomes:

  • Running CNC machines, manual mills and lathes to make parts that match the measurements on a print.
  • Reading mechanical blueprints and fixing problems in the manufacturing process so everything meets industry standards.
  • Creating a finished part by choosing and using the right tools.
  • Using software to make CNC tool paths, telling the machine exactly how to cut the part.
  • Designing drawings in CAD software that follow drafting rules used in the industry.
  • Following safety rules that keep you and everyone around you safe.
