How do you begin to transform your idea into a reality? What are your resources? If you have dreamed of being your own boss but didn’t know where to start, you have come the right place.

Before you begin or invest in a small business, we recommend you do the following:

  • Evaluate the idea for your business by researching similar businesses

  • Do a financial analysis on the feasibility of your business venture
  • Write a basic business plan

SMART START YOUR BUSINESS COURSE

In this three-hour workshop, take a 360 degree view of your business concept and discuss the steps to a successful start. Our experienced instructors will help you answer some of the following questions:

  • Is there a need for your product or service?
  • Can you make money at it?
  • Are you and your team the right people to bring this product to market?
  • Is this business compatible with your personal goals?
  • What rules, laws and licensing apply to my business?

We will also discuss funding options for your business, basic marketing strategies, and the basic foundational components of actually launching your new venture.

MEET WITH AN SBDC BUSINESS ADVISOR

After attending the Smart Start Your Business Course, you will have free access to an SBDC business advisor to provide assistance as you create your business plan and move toward your goals. You can receive step-by-step business advising (at no-cost to you) to start your entrepreneurial venture, get resource information and have access to free business handouts.
