What is the Green Zone?
At Rogue Community College, Green Zone Training helps faculty and staff better understand and support military-connected students. RCC Military Services offers this training to build awareness of the unique strengths and challenges veterans and Active Service Members (ASM) bring to the classroom.
Green Zone Training began at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2010 and is now used at colleges and organizations nationwide. The name comes from the secure international zone in Baghdad, Iraq — a familiar concept for many Post-9/11 service members.
What You Will Gain
Participants who complete Green Zone Training receive:
- A Certificate of Completion.
- A challenge coin.
- An office badge that signals support for military students and ASM.
These visible indicators help students identify faculty and staff who understand their experiences and are prepared to support their academic success and path to the workforce.
