The Practical Nursing program at Rogue Community College is a special admission program with limited entry, which means you must meet additional requirements and complete a separate admission process beyond general college admission. Before applying to the Practical Nursing (PN) program, you must first apply and be accepted as a student at RCC.
Nursing Program(s) Info Sessions
The first step to getting started in the RCC Nursing program is to attend an information session to learn about admission requirements. You may attend before applying to RCC or after you are admitted as an RCC student.
Attending an info session is required before applying to the Nursing program, and it is recommended that you complete this step before scheduling an advising appointment.

Student Clinical Requirements
The RCC Practical Nursing Program utilizes a variety of clinical sites throughout Josephine and Jackson counties. These sites include hospitals, long-term care facilities and clinics. Students are assigned to clinical experiences in most, if not all, the sites and must expect to travel to communities other than those in which they reside for these experiences. At times, carpooling to clinical sites will not be possible, and reliable transportation will be needed by students.
Please Note: Students should not pursue meeting these requirements before being offered a seat in the Practical Nursing program. Applicants with an admissions offer will receive specific directions from the RCC Nursing Department on how to fulfill these requirements.
About the Application Evaluation Process
RCC’s process for evaluating applications includes the following requirements and steps:
Phase I: Payment, Documentation, Application
Step 1: Pay your application fee on Marketplace. You must complete this step first before you submit your application. Application fees are non-refundable, and the Marketplace link will open when the application does.
Step 2: If transferring to RCC or you have previous college credits Submit Official Transcripts.
Step 3: Gather the following documentation for submission with your application:
- ATI TEAS Exam Transcript.
- A copy of your Marketplace receipt verifying proof of Application Fee Payment.
- Additional supporting documents.
- Military Documents (if applicable).
- Current healthcare workforce license/certification or report from licensing body showing active status.
Additional Considerations for Program Admissions
While not required, the following additional factors will be considered in theApplication Selection Point Process:
- Prior Degree – Students who already hold an associate or higher degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Proof of prior degree required through an official transcript verification.
- In-district Residency – Students who are Josephine or Jackson County residents. Proof of residency is required.
- Veteran or Active Military Status — Students who are Military veterans (with proof of honorable discharge) or active service (e.g., National Guard).
- Work Experience in the Healthcare Field — Students with paid, hands-on patient care experience within the past five years, supported by a current, unencumbered state license or national certification. Eligible roles include CNA or CMA (OSBN registry), LPN, respiratory therapist, EMT, paramedic, nationally certified medical assistant or armed services medic/corpsman.
Graduation Requirements
The Practical Nursing Certificate program requires the completion of 33 total credits. Students must complete all nursing courses on this program map with a grade of “C” or better to continue in and complete the program, receive their degrees, and meet the educational requirements to apply to take the national licensure exam (NCLEX-RN).
Admission and completion of the PN Certificate Program at RCC does not guarantee an OSBN licensure.

Technical Standards
The Rogue Community College Nursing Program has the responsibility to society to educate competent health care providers to care for their patients/clients with clinical judgment, broadly based knowledge, and competent technical skills at the entry level.
The program has academic and technical standards (non-academic criteria) students must meet to progress in, and graduate from, the program successfully.
Progression in the program is dependent on the demonstration of the technical standards with or without reasonable accommodations.
