Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Mechanics keep aircraft safe and flight-ready by inspecting, maintaining and repairing engines, airframes and complex systems. Rogue Community College’s Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Program combines hands-on training and classroom instruction to prepare you for a career in aircraft maintenance. Through a blend of hands‑on training and classroom instruction, you will work on aircraft structures, engines and avionics systems in line with FAA regulations, gaining the technical skills needed for this in-demand field.
Rogue Community College’s Airframe & Power Plant Mechanic Apprenticeship program prepares you for a career as an Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic.
Program Highlights
The Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Program takes approximately 2.5 years to complete and combines more than 4,800 hours of on-the-job training with 440 hours of classroom instruction. The program prepares students to take the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification exams and provides multiple educational and professional opportunities, including:
- Receiving a journeyman card issued by the State of Oregon.
- The option to earn an Industrial Mechanics and Maintenance Technology Career Pathway Certificate upon finishing the apprenticeship.
- The option to pursue an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Industrial Mechanics and Maintenance Technology.
