Rogue Community College Tutoring Centers provide support for all math courses offered at RCC. Math tutors can help you review concepts, work through problem-solving strategies and better understand course material.

To make the most of your tutoring visit, please prepare ahead of time.

How to Prepare for Math Tutoring

When visiting the Tutoring Center, you are encouraged to:

  • Complete the assigned reading before your visit.
  • Contact your instructor if you have questions about the assignment.
  • Come with specific questions or problem areas you want to review.
  • Bring the original problems from your textbook or course materials, as some issues result from copying errors.
  • Visit early rather than wait until the last minute.
  • Put your best effort into both your assignment and your tutoring session.

Preparing ahead helps tutors provide more effective support.

What Math Tutors Can and Cannot Do

Math tutors can:

  • Explain mathematical concepts.
  • Work through similar problems to help guide your understanding.
  • Support your learning outside of class instruction.

Math tutors cannot:

  • Complete assignments, labs or extra credit work for you.
  • Provide step-by-step solutions for assigned homework problems.
  • Offer extended instruction intended to replace classroom teaching.
  • Proofread or correct completed assignments.

Tutoring services are meant to support your learning, not replace instruction from your course instructor.

If you have questions about math tutoring or need help scheduling a session, staff at the Tutoring Center are available to assist you.
