Weather

Grants Pass is typically warm in mid-June. Guests are encouraged to:

  • Wear lightweight clothing.
  • Bring a hat and sunscreen.
  • Bring water.
  • In case of rain, wear rain gear or bring an umbrella.

Shuttle Service

Free shuttle service is available between the Josephine County Fairgrounds and the RCC Redwood Campus, courtesy of Josephine Community Transit (JCT).

  • Free parking is available at the Fairgrounds.
  • Pick-up and drop-off locations include:
    • Main entrance gates of the Fairgrounds.
    • Parking lot near the Marjorie Holzgang Concert Bowl.

Seating

The concert bowl is sloped and grassy.

  • Guests typically sit on the grass or bring blankets. Limited chair seating is available, so arrive early for best access.
  • ADA seating is limited to individuals with a disability and one attendant. Please plan in advance who will accompany your guest.
  • If you or your guest require accommodations — including alternate seating arrangements, mobility support or other assistance — visit the Commencement Accommodations page for more information and a request form.
  • Guests may bring mats or pillows for comfort.
  • Standard-height folding chairs are not allowed, as they are unstable on the hillside and may block views.
  • Children must be supervised during the ceremony.
  • Exiting from the front of the bowl is restricted. If you need to leave early, please exit from the top of the bowl when possible.
  • Guests are encouraged to remain for the full ceremony to honor all graduates.

Parking

Free parking with shuttle service is available at the Josephine County Fairgrounds. There is free, but limited, parking available on the Redwood Campus, though lots may fill quickly.

  • View the Commencement Parking Map of Redwood Campus.
  • Limited disability parking is available for vehicles with valid state-issued placards. Arrive early for best access.
  • When disability parking is full, guests with limited mobility may be dropped off at the concert bowl entrance.
  • For parking closest to the concert bowl, use the east entrance on Demaray Drive.
Accessibility

RCC is committed to making commencement accessible for everyone. If you have a specific request for a graduate or guests, please visit the Commencement Accommodations page for information and a link to the request form.

  • An ASL interpreter will be present during the ceremony.
  • The graduate line-up will take place on paved, concrete surfaces for approximately one hour prior to the ceremony.
  • Graduates will be seated in chairs on grass with a slight slope. Access to the seating area requires navigating a small number of steps.
  • Reservations for accessible seating in the Rogue Bowl are highly encouraged. Space is limited, and capacity is exceeded every year, so we recommend arriving as early as possible.
