Associate Degree
Riverside Campus
If you plan to transfer to Southern Oregon University (SOU) through the Human Services pathway at Rogue Community College, you will start by applying for admission to RCC and completing the Placement Process. Once those steps are finished, there are additional requirements for this special admission program — meaning you must complete a separate Human Services Application and meet program-specific expectations beyond general college admission.
Human Services Practicum
Prospective students should understand that human services agencies often have specific requirements for practicum placement. Because practicum experiences take place in real community settings, you may be asked to complete a criminal history background check. In some cases, not passing this check could prevent you from finishing the program.
If you are in recovery and plan to complete a practicum in a substance abuse treatment setting, you may also need to show two years of sobriety. These expectations help ensure that you, your clients and the agencies you serve are well supported.
If you have questions about practicum requirements or want to talk through your situation, the RCC Human Services Department is here to help you explore your options and plan your next steps.
Human Services Info Session
Students are encouraged to take notes so they can easily complete the subsequent quiz. The quiz needs to be passed with 100% correct answers to access the application. Students will have unlimited attempts to complete the quiz, but notes can be helpful in speeding up the process.
Graduation Requirements
The Human Services transfer degree requires the completion of 90-92 program credits including 8-14 prerequisite credits, which may be waived based on placement. Students must complete all courses outlined in this program with a grade of “C-” or better to earn a degree. For admission to the Southen Oregon University (SOU) Human Services program, RCC students must earn a minimum grade of “C” in human services, psychology and other core courses. Students are strongly encouraged to meet with an academic or faculty advisor before beginning any coursework.
See the Program Map in our academic catalog for specific course requirements.
