The Medical Assistant Certificate is a special admission program. This means you’ll complete extra steps beyond general college admission. Programs start in spring and fall, so you can apply to join the cohort that works for you.
Rogue Community College has open admissions, so getting started is simple. First,
submit your application to the college. After you apply, you’ll meet with an advisor
who will help you explore your program's options and create a plan that matches your

How to Get Started
Getting started at Rogue Community College is simple. Follow these steps to enroll and begin working toward your goals.
- Apply to Rogue Community College: It’s free and only takes a few minutes online.
- Complete the Placement Process: This shows what math and writing classes you should start with first.
- Attend a New Student Orientation: Provides crucial information on campus resources, academic expectations and student life, helping you feel more prepared and connected.
- Attend a First Term Advising Session: Academic Advisors help you choose classes and plan your schedule.
- Register for Classes: Once your schedule is set, you’re ready start your first term.
Additional Special Admissions Requirements
Step 1: Speak with the Medical Assistant Program Advisor.
Allied Health staff will help you confirm eligibility, review program expectations

Step 2: Complete the Clinical Training Agreement.
Work with RCC and your employer to obtain required signatures for the clinical training
agreement.
Step 3: Submit Your Medical Assistant Bridge Application
Fall 2026 start: Priority deadline is June 5; final deadline is Sept. 12.
Spring 2027 start: Priority deadline is mid-December; final deadline is mid-March.

Step 7: Register for classes and begin the program.
After acceptance, register for courses and prepare to start building your clinical
medical assistant skills.
Successful Application Tips
We want to help you complete your application successfully. Here are some tips to guide you:
- Review all application requirements before you begin.
- Prepare your 400- to 500-word essay in advance so you can submit it smoothly.
- The online application session will time out after 120 minutes. Save your work often, because information will not be saved unless you save or submit it.
After your application is reviewed, all applicants will be notified via your RCC student email. You must reply to confirm your acceptance into the program. Your acceptance email will include instructions to schedule your initial advising appointment. Make sure your contact information in myRogue is current so you receive all program updates.
After You Apply
After acceptance into the program, you will complete health and safety requirements needed for practicum experiences involving direct patient care. Program staff will guide you through the process and communicate next steps through your RCC student email.
Health and Screening Requirements
Health Requirements
- Review immunization requirements.
- Gather official immunization records.
- Schedule any needed vaccinations through your primary care provider or county health department.
- Obtain American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider CPR & First Aid Certification (BLS).
- May be taken during coursework.
- Must be completed before practicum begins.
Screening Requirements
- Complete a criminal background check.
- Complete a 10-panel urine drug screen.
Important: Instructions for starting your background check, drug screen and uploading immunization records will be provided during program orientation.
Some requirements have associated fees.
It is important to monitor your RCC student email closely before and after acceptance, as all updates and deadlines are shared there. Students who do not complete required steps on time may be withdrawn from the program.
Because clinical placements have limited capacity, qualified applicants may be placed on a waitlist if space is not immediately available. Meeting deadlines and submitting required documents early helps secure your place in the program and prepare for a successful practicum experience.
