Rogue Community College’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Certificate prepares you to become an emergency medical technician (EMT) and enter the workforce in just three terms. You build the skills to assess patients, provide Basic Life Support and respond calmly during medical and traumatic emergencies. The program blends step-by-step instruction with hands-on learning so you gain confidence fast.

As you progress, you complete practicum experiences with local hospitals and ambulance services across Southern Oregon. After completing the EMS course, you are eligible to take the Oregon state and National Registry EMT exams. The certificate also builds a strong foundation for careers in emergency services, including roles that lead toward advanced emergency care, firefighting or paramedicine. Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) may be available to help you save time and reduce costs.

If your goal is to start working sooner without pursuing paramedicine, you may want to explore the EMT Career Pathway Certificate.
