Apprenticeship
Table Rock Campus
The Sheet Metal Worker Apprenticeship Program typically accepts applications once or twice a year. Applications are usually accepted May 10-June 10 for each application cycle. These dates may be adjusted as needed to accommodate program requirements. Applicants who are not employed by a contracted training agent by Sept. 1 will be removed from the pool of eligible candidates.
Application Process
Applying for an apprenticeship can take time, and openings are limited. Some programs accept applications year-round, while others open only during specific times of the year.
Being placed in an applicant pool does not guarantee immediate placement. Candidates are selected as positions become available, so it is important to plan ahead and continue working while you wait.
Step 1: Meet the Minimum Requirements
Review the minimum qualifications for your apprenticeship program to ensure you are
eligible to apply.
Step 2: Submit an Online Apprenticeship Application
Complete and submit the online apprenticeship application through WorkHands during
the program’s open application period.
Step 3: Participate in the Selection Process
Qualified applicants will participate in the program’s selection process. Selection
procedures vary by program and may include applicant ranking, interviews, applicant
pool systems, random drawings, or other program-specific requirements.
Step 4: Accept Your Apprenticeship Offer
If you are selected by an approved training agent and accepted into the apprenticeship
program, you will be contacted with the next steps to complete your apprenticeship
registration and RCC enrollment.
Where to Apply
The Sheet Metal Apprenticeship Program typically accepts applications once or twice a year. Applications are usually accepted May 11–June 11 and mid-August (August 10–August 21) for each application cycle. These dates may be adjusted as needed to accommodate program requirements. Applicants who are not employed by a contracted training agent by September 1 will be removed from the pool of eligible candidates.
To remain eligible, applicants must secure employment with a training agent before starting classes. Those who don’t find employment may reapply in the next cycle.
Tip: To increase your chances of entering the program, we highly encourage applicants to secure employment with one of our training agents — even in an entry-level role. Find approved training agents by going to Oregon BOLI Apprenticeship and searching for program MA #5006.
