American Association for Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC)

AAWCC‑RCC was established to encourage professional development, support women in leadership roles and promote communication among women working and learning in community colleges. 

Who Can Join 

AAWCC‑RCC welcomes students, staff, retirees, and community members who support the chapter’s mission and want to contribute to a supportive, inclusive community. 

Membership is open to anyone who supports the mission of AAWCC‑RCC. Members are encouraged to share ideas, participate in activities and help shape chapter goals. The membership period runs from January 1 through December 31. 

• Student and retiree membership: $10 per year. 
• Staff or Community member membership: $25 per year. 
• RCC employees may use professional growth funds for membership. 
• Members are asked to contribute two volunteer hours each year to support fundraising or chapter activities.

Events and Professional Development 

AAWCC‑RCC hosts educational, networking and fundraising events throughout the year to support members and student scholarships. 
Events include workshops, retreats and conferences focused on leadership development, connection and professional growth. Some AAWCC events may include: 

• Local events and fundraisers. 
• Oregon AAWCC conferences and workshops. 
• Annual summer conference hosted by AAWCC‑Oregon. 
• Winter Retreat hosted by the RCC chapter.  

All AAWCC-RCC members are encouraged to participate in supporting AAWCC-RCC events 1-2 hours per year. What makes you happy? Hanging flyers? Selling roses and water to graduates and their families? Collecting clothing donation? Wrangling volunteer? Share your special gift with us at one of these events or send%20us%20your%20suggestions. 

Leadership and Governance 

AAWCC‑RCC is guided by an elected board that oversees chapter activities and supports member engagement. 

The board is made up of elected officers and representatives who serve defined roles and help advance the chapter’s mission. Board members coordinate events, manage finances, and support communication across the chapter.

AAWCC State History - Oregon AAWCC

The Oregon Chapter, Oregon AAWCC, is affiliated with the National AAWCC, a council of AACC, dedicated to equality, equity, and excellence for women. Oregon AAWCC is an organization developed by Oregon women in community colleges for anyone who supports the mission of Oregon AAWCC, to inspire, champion, and celebrate the talents within each of us. AAWCC encourages professional development for women in community colleges, supports women in leadership roles, develops communication among women in community colleges, promotes and offers local and state workshops, disseminates information on courses, programs, and services for professional women. AAWCC National History

The American Association for Women in Community Colleges was organized in 1973 and became an Affiliate Council of the American Association of Community and Junior Colleges (AACJC), now the American Association for Community Colleges (AACC). In response to an affirmative vote of the membership, the organization's name was officially changed on April 26, 1993, to the American Association for Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC).
