Credit for Prior Learning-Criminal Justice
If you work in law enforcement, corrections or a related field, you may be eligible to receive credit based on successful completion and documentation of accredited training academies, related inservice training, and/or continuing education activities in addition to regular college coursework. Up to 18 credits can be earned toward the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Criminal Justice if:
- You have completed the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) Basic Police or Basic Corrections class and are certified as a police or corrections officer in Oregon.
- You have completed out-of-state or Federal police and corrections academies, or have completed significant inservice trainings and continuing education programs of study. Eligibility will be determined on a case-by-case basis taking into consideration identical content, competencies, and outcomes of training, and the currency of out-of-state certifications and employment status in law enforcement, corrections, and related fields.
Credits earned in this way cost just $10 per credit, but you must first complete at least 24 credits toward the AAS degree in Criminal Justice before making the request. For more information email Richard Renfro [email protected] or call 541-956-7462.
