Senior Project Engineer
DESCRIPTION/DUTIES: California Oregon Broadcasting, Inc. (COBi) has an opening
for a full-time Senior Project Engineer in the Corporate Engineering Department. This position is responsible for covering all technical and operational aspects of digital broadcast studios and multiple transmitter sites in support of COBiís broadcast televisions stations. The candidate must have skills managing projects related to broadcast systems design and implementation including system design, identifying, analyzing, and recommending suitable equipment, procurement, documentation,
installation, and maintenance. Additional skills in mechanical layout, power control system design (solar and generator), IP system design, and configuration. Knowledge of television, transmitters, and RF transmission system design are required. Works closely with Corporate management, station General Managers, and station
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5 years experience in a broadcast engineering environment.
Must have working knowledge of desktop computers, servers, IT networks, microwave transmission systems, television transmitters, test equipment, and construction tools.
The ideal candidate will be successful in working well with staff, thinking clearly under pressure, and applying creative solutions in a timely manner. Must be flexible to accommodate 24/7 on-call response to consult with station engineering staff on critical technical issues. A technical school or college degree in engineering is a plus.
REQUIREMENTS: A valid driverís license and good driving record are required. COBi holds licenses issued by the FCC; therefore, we must follow federal guidelines. Since marijuana is still illegal on a federal level, if offered a position, a candidate would be required to pass a 10-panel drug screen, which does include marijuana. A 3-yr driving record check and a 7-yr criminal background check are also pre-employment
requirements. We require all new hires to be COVID-19 vaccinated and up-to-date, which does include booster(s). A valid driverís license is also required.
