We have many health centers throughout Jackson County and programs. As a federally qualified health center (FQHC), La Clinica serves people who need us the most through exceptional, affordable, and compassionate care. The BES/Greeter will assist patients with the submission or applications, obtain required verification, document identity and citizenship according to DMAP (Division of Medical Assistance Programs) standards, follow up with patients to assure timely submission and act as liaison with DMAP to eliminate barriers to eligibility determinations. The BES/Greeter will also be responsible for greeting patients and the front desk, answering telephone lines, verifying patient insurance, and providing support to the team.



Responsibilities Include the Following:

Demonstrates knowledge of all aspects of medical assistance programs available through the Department of Human Services
Will evaluate patientís circumstances and assist the patients in accessing the benefit most advantageous to the patientís family circumstances
Assist patient with the completion of the application process, including assistance in obtaining necessary documents, and submission of applications to the OHA Central unit or other program related processing center
Follow up on pending applications and update EPIC with insurance status
Work with billing department to identify potential covered charges that can be billed to DMAP or other insurance carrier
Meet in person, with patients referred by reception or other clinic staff
Responsible for outreach efforts to ensure continuation of OHP eligibility and engagement in La Clinica services
Check-in patients for scheduled appointments
Coordinate with clinic staff to determine availability for non-scheduled appointments and ensure patients are seen in a timely manner
Perform cash handling responsibilities including preparing receipts and collecting money for services, and preparing daily deposits.

Education and/or Experience:

Required:

High School Diploma
Bilingual/Bi-literate in Spanish and English
Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
Skills to intervene and promote reconciliation, compromise and positive outcomes in difficult interactions
Basic knowledge of Excel, SharePoint and Office Suite

Preferred:
Basic knowledge of adult learning models
Six months of experience in related field or training
Skilled at using electronic health records as applicable to area of work (EPIC)
BLS HealthCare Provider (BLS Certification)


Language Skills:

Must have the ability to communicate with clarity, both verbally and in writing; read, analyze, and interpret complex documents, regulations, policies, and procedure manuals; and create professional business documents.



To meet La Clinicaís patient needs in some instances the Benefit Enrollment Specialist shall be able to do the following in Spanish:

Speak conversational Spanish
Read and comprehend instructions
Read and write short correspondences, and memos
Effectively present information in a one-on-one and small group setting to customers; patients and other employees of the organization
