VIII.B.010

Rogue Community College (RCC) will publish a catalog, and/or provide in a manner reasonably available to students and other stakeholders, current information including, but not limited to, academic programs, description of courses, RCC requirements and expected learning outcomes.

VIII.B.020

The Board of Education of Rogue Community College endorses the Library Bill of Rights of the American Library Association and asserts that the responsibility of the college library is to:

  1. Provide materials that will enrich and support the curriculum taking into consideration the varied interests, abilities, and maturity levels of the students served;
  2. Provide materials that will stimulate growth in factual knowledge, literary appreciation, aesthetic values, and ethical standards;
  3. Provide materials on opposing sides of controversial issues so that citizens may develop, under guidance, the practice of critical thinking and reading;
  4. Provide materials representative of the many religious,ethnic and cultural groups and their contributions to our American heritage;
  5. Place principle above personal opinion and reason above prejudice in the selection of materials in the highest quality of order to assure a comprehensive collection appropriate for the users of the library.
  6. Specific guidelines for the selection of all instructional materials shall be developed in an administrative procedure.

VIII.B.030

The Rogue Community College administration shall maintain a procedure for reviewing book selections for courses to ascertain that a prohibitively expensive and unnecessary book requirement does not prevail for any course.

The college does not furnish textbooks and manuals required in courses. The college bookstore will attempt to have readily available such materials for purchase or rental by students at standard cost.
