ES131 is the first half of a two-term course that prepares individuals for National Registry certification and licensure in Oregon as an Emergency Medical Technician. The course will develop a student's ability to recognize and treat the symptoms of illness and injury in the pre-hospital setting through didactic and simulated or clinical opportunities. The lab or clinical opportunities develop students' abilities to identify and treat the symptoms of illness and injury in the classroom and hands-on environments. Includes skills in patient assessment, essential airway management, trauma assessment and management, medication administration, and automated external defibrillators (AED).
