This course introduces basic principles, methods and media with an emphasis on value drawing. Students work extensively through direct observation of real objects, forms, and spaces, augmented by project-appropriate use of photographic source material. Through a combination of mini-lectures, demonstrations, studio work, and group discussions, the concepts of light, form, pictorial space, depth, conceptualization and composition are explored.
