- Description
- Provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully pass Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles endorsement tests including air brakes, doubles/triples, tanker, and hazardous materials. Students will also become familiar with commercial vehicle basics, which include driver qualifications, driver health, hours of service, and whistle blower protection as required by the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration (FMCSA). Additionally, students will be introduced to hours of service regulations; atlas (map) reading; log book notations; tractor/trailer systems; double clutch shifting procedures; coupling/uncoupling; tire chaining; pre-trip, in-trip and post-trip inspections; defensive diving techniques; driver nutrition; load management and proper securing methods; and accident reporting.
