Description
This is an overview course conducted online (via Zoom) is intended to give the learner material that will help them to understand the nature of honey bees, how they fit into the ecosystem and agriculture, their nature and care. Class will cover best practices in beekeeping, honey bee care requirements, bee anatomy and physiology, equipment, disease and pest management, as well as harvesting honey. The text used is “Storey’s Guide to Keeping Honey Bees”, 2nd edition, by authors Malcolm T. Sanford and Richard E. Bonney. The text can be purchased from Amazon for approximately $20.

  • Hybrid Classes: This course will run in hybrid format with some course content delivered in person and some online.
