- Introduces the theory, mathematical concepts, calculations, application, and troubleshooting of semiconductor solid state electrical devices. Topics include atomic theory basis of semiconductor electrical behavior and PN junction theory and applications, including diode and bipolar junction transistors. The course emphasizes utilization of graphical, analytical, and modeling techniques for DC and AC analysis of solid-state diode and bi-polar junction amplifier small signal circuit applications. Heavy emphasis is placed on integration of circuit theory to problem solving and troubleshooting skills. In addition to hands-on experience with industry-standard test equipment, software simulation is used to enhance the presentation of theory and circuit applications, and the development of troubleshooting skills.
- EET: The lab attendance expectation for all EET courses (except EET113) is that students will attend the same number of hours per week in the lab as the number of credits of the course(s) they are enrolled in. For example, a three credit class requires 3 hours of lab attendance per week, where a 5 credit course has a 5 hour weekly lab attendance requirement. The onsite lab hour requirement can be reduced if the student documents doing successful lab work offsite.
