Basic Design (Color Theory) (Spring 2021)

Provides instruction in the basic theories and practice of using color through coursework addressing both concept and experience. This provides a foundation in the vocabulary and practice of color theory. Assignments will deal with color mixing, describing space and shape, basic color relationships, the use of color in image development, and understanding how color relationships affect psychological and visual perception. Continues analysis of composition with focus on use of color and its affect to meet individually determined designs in a variety of contexts. This course satisfies foundation core requirements for art majors and graphic design. Runs in conjunction with the credit student class. *You are liable for payment at the time of registration.   • Zoom Classes: Class will meet during the listed times via Zoom. Information about Zoom-based classes will be available in the course Blackboard shell on the first day of the term. All teachers expect students to participate in the class on the first day of the term. Students not participating during the first day may be subject to administrative drop. Students should have access to a web cam and audio capabilities on their computer to fully participate in a Zoom class. Some Zoom classes are delivered in hybrid format and will have additional course participation requirements outside of Zoom sessions.
