Portrait Drawing (Summer 2020)

- Study the art of portraiture with artist Jenay Elder. This class is an all level guide to portrait drawing. Students will learn several drawing principles including, composition, proportions, perspective, balance, blocking, massing and tone. Students will work closely with the instructor and with classical plaster casts *and live model, using suggested materials. Choose to work in charcoal or pencil. Recommended Supply List for Charcoal Drawing with: charcoal pencils, large charcoal paper (18x24”), white chalk pencil, Viva paper towels. Class will be held remotely using a Zoom virtual classroom. Students must have access to a computer with webcam and microphone to participate.
- Class will meet during the listed times via Zoom. Information about Zoom-based classes will be available in the course Blackboard shell on the first day of the term. All teachers expect students to participate in the class on the first day of the term. Students not participating during the first day may be subject to administrative drop. Students should have access to a web cam and audio capabilities on their computer to fully participate in a Zoom class. Some Zoom classes are delivered in hybrid format and will have additional course participation requirements outside of Zoom sessions.
