Beginning Sept 2, the cost of the Personal Care Attendant course is going to be $149, with course books going for $14.50 & $9.  There will also be a $25 Rogue Online fee.

Fall term residents of Josephine and Jackson counties may apply for a $100 scholarship by completing an application. Winter term the tuition waiver may drop to $50.

This course will prepare you to enter an exciting new career in home care, one of the fastest growing industries in the country.

What you will learn

• Essential caregiving and professional skills needed to provide high-quality care.
• Role and responsibilities of a personal care attendant and how to relate to other members of the care team.
• Important social issues such as Alzheimer’s, elder abuse and cultural competence.

When you successfully complete this course (12-units) you will have learned the basic principles for each caregiving procedure.

Additional training

CPR training and basic first aid training are also important training. You may need these skills in your work as a personal care attendant. Your agency may provide the training or you can find CPR training at hospitals, fire stations and Red Cross chapters. Red Cross and community colleges offer first aid training as well.
