College Dreams students invited to attend "Summer Connections"
College Dreams students planning to attend Rogue Community College for the first time this fall are invited to "Summer Connections."
Aimed at smoothing College Dreams students' transition from high school to college life, the free event is scheduled Aug. 21-22 in the Josephine Building on the RCC Redwood Campus, 3345 Redwood Hwy., Grants Pass.
Activities and workshops will highlight college resources; explore SALT, RCC's new financial literacy service; and acquaint students with the campus. Participants also will connect with current students and key staff members. RCC TRiO Student Support Services and College Dreams/Talent Search are sponsoring the event.
TRiO Student Support Services (TRiO/SSS) assists RCC students attending the Redwood Campus in acquiring the skills needed to be successful and transfer to a four-year college or university. College Dreams promotes healthy youth development, academic excellence, and college preparation for Jackson and Josephine County junior high and high school students, especially those who face life challenges.
Talent Search and Student Support Services are part of a cluster of federally funded programs operating under the name TRiO, created through the Higher Education Act of 1965. RCC funds the TRiO/SSS program through a $247,584, five-year grant from the U.S. Department of Education.
