Aesthetic, cultural, and social works are among the art displayed
by the Wiseman Gallery. Exhibits range from works by local artists
to national artists of emerging importance. A variety of media and
styles are presented to inspire and educate the viewer. Annual exhibits
include: student and faculty shows, and the National Women's History Month
juried exhibit, "Celebrate Northwest Women". The gallery
also coordinates Black, White & the Blues, an annual art auction and
dance held in cooperation with the Grants Pass Museum of Art to raise 'art
awareness' funds for both art exhibitors.
The gallery is located on the Redwood campus of Rogue Community
College in Grants Pass, Oregon. Our hours are Monday-Thursday 8am-8pm,
Fridays 8am-5pm and Saturdays 9am-12pm. Reduced summer hours.

 Dates: January 7 - Febuary 2, 2008 Artist: Robert Schlegel Title: Particular Places Gallery: Wiseman, Main Campus Medium: acrylic Description: Warm tones capture summer fields and emptiness. Stark but beautiful atmosphere encompasses images of agricultural buildings into strong compositional elements. Schlegel’s work is representative of the delicate balance of nature and how it is affected by agriculture.
|  Dates: Febuary 6 - March 3, 2008 Artist: Laine Wyatt & Harry Wilson Title: Two Views Gallery: Wiseman, Main Campus Medium: photography Description: This two-person show combines elements of antiquity, modern life, and strange or interesting juxtaposition. These photographs express the
duality of European life by capturing elements of majesty with matters of daily living.

|  Dates: April 16 - May 14, 2008 Artist: Dawn Hunter Title: Spectacle Spectacular Gallery: Wiseman, Main Campus Medium: pen & ink Description: Hunter analyzes in her pen and ink drawings, through historical narrative, the progression of body-type propaganda in pop culture over time. Each piece represents the month in which the image was referenced from “Vogue” magazine. In this way she contemporizes these images in her blend of images directly from the source.

|  Dates: July 7 - August 28, 2008 Artist: Califoria Fiber Artist Title: Layers of Stitch Gallery: Wiseman, Main Campus Medium: fiber Description: CFA presents this traveling exhibit produced by a eclectic group of fiber artists. This dynamic show offers a dynamic selected of styles from quilt making to fiber books. These pieces of fiber art offer a diverse view into the world of fiber art.
|  Dates: September 22 - October 31, 2008 Artist: Tom Lundquist Title: Poissons de Chant Gallery: Wiseman, Main Campus Medium: computer illustration Description: Through use of digital imaging Lundquist has created an interesting and sometimes whimsical world of fancy and intrigue. The world offers shifts in space as well as elements of disobedience to traditional laws of nature.
|  Dates: November 3 - December 5, 2008 Artist: Iku Higuchi Title: Creation of Man Gallery: Wiseman, Main Campus Medium: mixed media Description: Ancient Japanese myths about the creation of man inspired this series by Higuchi. He draws upon the spirits of Fire, water, and Wind to create this combination of paintings and colorgraphs. The emotions of these elements are strong throughout this series and bring about the soul of the fundamental human.
