Description:
According to a recent study from Georgetown University's Center on Education and the Workforce, at least 70 percent of students work their way through college. Source: http://www.cnbc.com/2015/10/29/more-college-students-are-working-while-studying.html. On average, these students work about 30 hours a week. Experts say students should only work 10 to 15 hours, preferably on-campus, but for a quarter of working students, full-time classes are paired with a full-time job.
Many students who work do so in order to pay for college. Yet, even full-time workers only make about $15,000 at minimum wage, which doesn’t always cover tuition, books, rent and other expenses. With the rapid inflation in college expenses, the average student takes out over $20,000 worth of student loans in his or her lifetime, even though working while attending school.
At Coover Law Firm, we know how tough it can be to work while attending college. Our Working for Education Scholarship is designed to help ease the financial burden of college for students who take on many hours at their job.
