At the Ward Law Group, we are as committed to serving our community in Miami as we are to serving our clients, and we believe in the importance of giving back to make Miami a better and more inclusive place to live and work for all individuals. We strive to do our best to lend a needed hand as often as we can and strive to empower others to create a better future.

Partners at the Ward Law Group, Gregory Ward and Jany Martinez-Ward, recognize the importance of community inclusion. Cuban-born Jany spent years in Venezuela before she moved to the US to pursue her law degrees. She and her husband Gregory work hard understanding the legal issues facing foreign-born clients, and work tirelessly to fight for others while maintaining grounded in the Latin culture of their Florida community.

There is much to be done before immigrants can enjoy the full benefits of a clear path to U.S. citizenship, and many individuals will strive in social, political, and legal arenas to achieve the necessary reforms for others. The individuals who desire to make a measurable difference in immigration reform must be well educated and have a hands-on understanding of the issues and policies in the U.S. and around the world.

By furthering the educational aspirations of these motivated members of our nation, The Ward Law Group looks to invest in a richer, more inclusive future for our country and those who seek to join it. In the spirit of giving deserving people additional opportunities, they are proud to announce the Ward Law Group Better Future scholarship. Their rich history, dedication to family, education, and their community, lead them to provide a scholarship to a student who aims to create a better and more inclusive future for individuals from all communities.

This scholarship will be awarded to the student who in a personal essay best considers the importance of immigration reform and current immigration conditions and reforms in the United States have affected them as well as offer ways that these conditions might be improved. This scholarship will award $500 to the winning student.

Essays should be approximately 750 words in Times New Roman 12-point font, and should avoid any grammatical errors. Additionally, applicants need to submit an updated resume and have a minimum 3.0 GPA from an accredited college or university.

Eligibility:
-This scholarship is offered to any student currently enrolled in an accredited community college, undergraduate, or graduate program in the United States. This includes incoming first-year college students who are high school graduates or possess a GED.
-The scholarship candidate must possess a demonstrated interest in immigration reform and a dedication to their education.
-All eligible candidates must be in good academic standing, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.

-An updated résumé and completed cover sheet.
-The scholarship candidate must submit a 750-word essay or statement that considers current immigration conditions and reforms in the United States and offers ways that these conditions might be improved, as well as the importance of immigration reform.
-A current unofficial transcript from the applicant’s school (NOTE: First-year college students must submit an unofficial transcript from their most recent school, as well as an unofficial transcript from their current post-secondary institution.)
