CJ Getz has been teaching others to drive professionally for two years now, but her non-professional experience goes way back to her own high school days. After the skimpy introduction to driving that her father gave her and the critical behind the wheel instructor she had for three sessions via school, she began her teaching career by taking her own younger brother out, wanting to teach him before anyone else could scare him off of driving. She was hoping to make the experience less trying and painful for him than what she had experienced. Since that time she has become the “go to” person for friends and family who were struggling with teaching their teens to drive. It was her friends and family that finally suggested that she pursue professional training and a career in Driver Education.
CJ believes very much that our program is not just about learning how to drive, but how to drive smart and how to be aware of all the things in the environment around us. CJ believes in the program so much so, that both of her teens have gone through the Teen Driver Education course at RCC.
Before beginning her career in Driver Education, CJ worked in other Education fields: Preschool, Daycare, Elementary School Teacher’s Aid and even Home Schooling her own children for a time. Now, besides working with old and young in learning to drive safely, she volunteers with her husband as youth group leaders for one of the local valley churches because she enjoys teenagers and thinks it is a hard to be one in this day and age.
