Grading is based on assigned writing, attendance, participation, and amount of work you’ve done preparing for rehearsals. Theatre is a collaborative art. You must be present to collaborate. Art requires commitment. In The Theatre, you are a part of an ensemble, and that ensemble depends on your presence. After one missed class, your grade will begin to drop. If you must miss a class, please notify your scene partners and your instructorin advance so that we can adjust our plans for your absence.
A - No missed classes. No tardies. Scene memorized on or before Nov. 10th. Obvious extra contribution made to the ensemble through a song, a scene idea, a poem, understudy work, or consistent active class participation. All blocking/direction is noted in script immediately, and incorporated into scene by following class. Work tirelessly with scene partner without supervision. Complete journal entry.
B – One missed class. Scene memorized on or before Nov. 2nd. Blocking/direction is noted in script immediately, and incorporated into scene by following class. Active class participation. Work consistently with scene partner without supervision.
C – No more than two missed classes. Scene memorized on or before Nov. 10. Work consistently with scene partner without supervision. Blocking/direction is noted and incorporated.
I look for the amount of effort you put forward in- and out of class, and the quality of your attitude in your work.
