Sign up for TRiO

In order to qualify for the TRiO EOC program you must fill out an application form. Print the TRiO EOC Application form now and follow these instructions.

Step 1: Complete fully page 1 of the TRiO EOC application form.

Step 2: If you turned 24 before January 1st of this year or are older than 24 you are considered Independent, please skip to Step 3. If you turned 24 on or after January 1st of this year or you are younger than 24, please complete all questions under the Dependency Information section on page 2 of the TRiO EOC application form. If you answered yes to questions 2, 3, or 5 (those regarding veteran status, married or supporting dependents, or that you are a ward of court) you are considered Independent. If you answered no to all of these questions you are considered Dependent and the federal government requires that you provide income information for both your parents (natural and adoptive parents that you resided with prior to the age of 18) and yourself. Also, if you are Dependent, your parents must sign your EOC application. Continue to Step 3.

Step 3: Fully complete the Dependency and Income Information sections on page 2 of the TRiO EOC application form. Taxable income information provided should be from your most recent tax return (e.g. 2008 form for calendar year 2009).

• Dependent: Report the combined income for you and your parents. If you have questions on income information that are not addressed on this form, complete the form to the best of your ability and contact your local TRiO EOC office.
• Independent : Report the combined income for you and your spouse if you either are married or have been separated within the past year, but are not yet divorced.
• Independent/Dependent but did not file taxes: If you did not file income tax in the prior year, indicate Did not file under Income information and indicate the Household Funding Sources you received.

Step 4: Fully complete all remaining sections of pages 2 and 3 of the TRiO EOC application form. Sign the form at the bottom of page 2. If you are a Dependent student, have a parent sign the form at the bottom of page 2 in addition to you.

Step 5: Return the application form in the mail or drop it by your local TRiO EOC office. All contact information is provided under the TRiO EOC Staff section of this website.

Step 6: We will call you to schedule an appointment if you are qualified for the program. If we have questions or you are not qualified for the program, we will follow up with you by phone, email, or regular mail.
