- Long-Range & Short-Range Goals are both statements of purpose with specific desired outcomes that focus on the end result more than the "how to." Goals align with mission, vision, and values.
- Guiding Principles are statements that serve to provide direction for the efforts of strategic planning.
- Parameters are givens which provide the boundaries within which planning and activity will occur.
- Objectives are specific, measurable statements on one component of a goal. They are action-oriented and include specific timelines for their achievement.
- Strategic Initiatives are statements of purpose and are considered here to be the same as a college-wide short-range goal. (The 1999-2000 Planning Assumptions have been restated in this document as Strategic Initiatives - see page 6.)
- Action Plans are detailed statements created by each department describing the programs, services, courses, et cetera that they will provide to reach the Objectives.
- Unified Statement of Objectives is the set of objectives prepared by President’s Council that coordinate the objectives of divisions and departments. This tool will enable Rogue to maximize collaboration, create synergism, and avoid duplication and inefficiencies.
