- Avista Center for Entrepreneurship is now recruiting for fall term. Do you want to start your own business? Do you have a "can't miss" business idea? Is it time to turn that dream into a reality? The Avista Entrepreneurship course enables students to create real companies, procure funding and launch a business venture. It is a stimulating process that teaches foundational principles required to start and run a business while integrating real-world experience. The objective is to provide students with more than just a course on entrepreneurship. Participants will learn skills that can be applied to business ideas and concepts throughout their lives and careers, whether starting a business, buying a business, or are an "intrapreneur" within an organization.
Who should attend? The learning experience is designed for an array of students ranging from the participant who may have a business idea and wants to learn about the practical aspects of starting a business to those who intend to start and run their own business as well as potential participants who are already operating a business, but need assistance with the various aspects of improvement and adding value.
The curriculum entails a variety of business courses that will be taught in an environment that takes the student from "idea" stage to "concept/product launch" stage and beyond. The course provides a lockstep approach toward becoming a business owner as well as developing overall leadership and business skills. In addition, students have access to a number of resources like mentors, roundtables, peers, business plan writing tools and SBDC staff. It provides participants with a holistic approach and necessary support to enable the successful launch of a business venture. Students can enroll in as many individual class modules as desired or the entire six modules can be completed in three quarters.
Avista Entrepreneurship Management provides an opportunity for up to 12 prior learning credits from Rogue Community College. Full three-term tuition is $1,099 (or $299 with a scholarship). Individual course modules are offered at $199. All students who are accepted into the program will be eligible for the accompanying scholarship. Class meets every Monday, 6-8 p.m., beginning September 29. For additional information or to receive an application, e-mail email@example.com or call the SBDC at 541-956-7494.
