Steve Spilker:
Steve is a Regional Advisor for SBDC’s GROW OREGON program that was recently implemented within the State of Oregon to specifically assist traded sector firms ‘steer a course’ through the critical growth cycles of this type of business. Prior to this role, Mr. Spilker was a counselor in SBDC’s Next Level Program (NLP) working with second stage small businesses in the areas of leadership, sales & marketing management, new product development, as well as overall business operational efficiencies. In addition to the above, Mr. Spilker works as a Procurement Counselor with the State of Oregon’s Government Contract Assistance Program (GCAP). His main focus there is to educate and train Oregon firms in successfully completing the process required to obtain a General Service Administration’s (GSA) Federal Supply Schedule (FSS) Program contract. At present, he assists over 100 local firms with GSA contracts supplying products and services to Federal Agencies around the country including developing their post-contract sales & marketing plans.
As a successful business executive and business owner working in startups, mid-cap, and large multi-national firms, Steve applies his 30+ years of skills, experience, and knowledge to all aspects of his client’s business growth and development needs. He has held various management and ownership positions in the Aerospace, Aircraft Ground Support, Business Consulting, and Consumer Electronics fields over the course of his career.
He earned a B.S. Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in International Marketing from Northern Illinois University. His hobbies are golf, traveling, fishing, reading, and Civil War History (with an emphasis on archaeology and battlefield preservation).
